"Busy bee indeed! Say hi to the ultimate morning routine.
2024 is in full swing, and it waits for no one. Just like the worker bees, we must rise at the crack of dawn and gear up for the day. Here is a guide to a bulletproof morning routine.
My rooster crows at 5 am, and I stumble toward the kettle to make my kickass Rooibos tea. The instructions are as follows:
- Bring your kettle to a boil. While it's boiling, I have 5 sprays of the propolis throat spray - 5 sprays a day!
- Fill your cup (250 ml) about 3/4 full. Not 1/4 empty :)
- Add a bag of Rooibos tea.
- Squeeze in some lemon.
- Add a generous teaspoon of honey. It’s hard to choose, but currently, I’m on a Eucalyptus honey "buzz" (no pun), especially seeing the eucalyptus trees flowering at the moment in and around Cape Town.
- Stir it up and then fill the cup with tap water just because my mouth burns easily. Maybe yours doesn’t, but mine does :)
The next step isn’t easy. Still trying hard to make this a habit, but the change in my mood, mental health, and how calmly I can surround myself with chaos has been remarkable… meditation.
I can manage 10 minutes at most. Trying to increase it to 20 minutes by the end of 2024. It’s harder than I thought, but as I mentioned before, a total game-changer, especially when facing a busy day.
Here is a link to an app I can recommend: https://www.calm.com. It's about R50 a month. If you don’t feel like paying, there are loads of free meditation videos on YouTube at various lengths, for example, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, etc. You get the picture :)
After I’m all zen, I hit the gym for about 40 minutes to stay fit and get those endorphins rushing throughout my body. This is followed by a post-workout smoothie bowl.
I'm not big on breakfast, but I feel like all my efforts while training go to waste if I don't fuel up with some nutrients to get me through to lunch when I have a substantial meal. Here are the ingredients for the smoothie bowl:
- 125g of Greek yogurt
- 2 teaspoons of Earth Bee Force Of Nature- Honey Superfood
- 1 banana, sliced
- 2 strawberries, sliced
- 1/4 cup of blueberries
- 1/4 cup raspberries
Chuck it all together as a smoothie bowl or blend it in a blender and slurp away!
There you go if you were thinking about new ways to spice up your mornings. I find that if I do this 6 days a week, life’s pretty dang good."
