About Us

In 2009, Dirk Coetzee, stared retirement in the face. After discovering a wild hive in his garden in Durbanville he dusted off a Langstroph hive given to him by his late father, Johnny with a beekeeper’s suit and so Earth Bee was born.

Dirk managed to build up 450 hives from scratch in such a short time, producing raw unadulterated honey gathered from hives all over the Western Cape, South Africa.

The 3 main varieties that Earth Bee has on offer is Eacalyptus, Citrus and the one of a kind Fynbos honey.

Not too long after Earth Bee spun its first super out, Dirk had his 2 boys, Herman (the accountant) and Gerhard (the musician) involved.

They helped expand the Earth Bee operation and product offering. While being heavily involved in hive maintenance and honey harvesting we discovered the vital properties of propolis and the beneficial effects that it had on us as full time beekeepers and part time professionals
